Notorious drug peddler detained under PSA | KNO

Srinagar, July 26 (KNO) : Police on Friday claimed to have arrested one notorious drug peddler and recovered huge consignment of illegal drugs from his possession. Police said that the notorious drug peddler has been detained under Public Safety Act (PSA). Police spokesman in a statement issued to KNO identified him as Tariq Ahmad Wangoo of Chinkral Mohalla Habakadal at present Check Rawalpora, he was involved in several cases of drug peddling including case FIR number 32/2019 under section 8/21 NDPS Act of PS Rajbagh pertaining to recovery of huge consignment of illegal drugs from his possession. “Tariq Ahmad Wangoo was earlier arrested in different FIRs including FIR number 08/2015 under section 8/21 NDPS of PS Parimpora, FIR number 07/2017 under section 8/21 NDPS of P/S MR Gunj, FIR No. 02/2019 under section 8/21 NDPS of PS Bijbehara and FIR number 36/2015 under section 8/21 NDPS of PS Rajbagh,” police said. Spokesman added that he was a notorious drug peddler having series of FIRs against him and was responsible for peddling drugs among young students in different districts of the valley. Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, police said. “Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” spokesman added.(KNO)
